 Client: City of Temple
 Project Manager: David Marek, PE

Work Order 13124

The Apache Drive Reconstruction Project included widening a 2,300 linear foot two-lane rural section roadway to a 36-foot curb-and-gutter street section with an underground storm water collection system designed to convey storm water discharge. The project lies between a state highway and a farm-to-market road; therefore, coordination with TxDOT was critical.

In the preliminary design of the project, three different road sections were analyzed to determine possible right-of-way acquisitions. Due to budgetary restraints, the City of Temple elected the option to rebuild within the current right-of-way. The presence of various utilities and a major fiber optic line presented design challenges on the project. Additionally, the City of Temple's Fire Station on Apache Drive required the contractor to maintain access throughout the construction process. A December 24th deadline for substantial completion was established during a meeting with affected citizens. Despite utility difficulties, this date was met by the Contractor.
