 Moody ISD Design-Build Sports Complex
 Client: Moody ISD
 Project Manager: David Marek, PE
 Date: 01/16/01

Work Order 12901

Selected by the Moody ISD School Board, The Wallace Group accepted the challenge to design and build a multi-use sports facility to support Moody High School athletics. Designed as an earthen berm, the Sports Complex includes a new football stadium that will hold a capacity crowd of 2,582 in the bleachers and features a running track which will benefit not only the Moody High School track team, but also the student body as a whole. Four tennis courts and a 2,700 square foot concession/restroom facility complete the complex. A 3,500 foot road through Moody ISD property connects the Sports Complex to Moody High School.

In light of time constraints, only the design-build method of procurement was able to meet the necessary schedule. The new High School Sports Complex was completed in only eight months and was ready for fans and players to fill the stadium.

Design-Build projects require close cooperation between the owner, the designer, and the builder. The Wallace Group, the largest local design firm, teamed with Young Contractors, the largest local heavy construction firm, to facilitate timely completion of this project.
