Work Order 8172 The Harker Heights' City Staff, City Council, and the citizens of Harker Heights realized that their City was experiencing more and greater flooding problems. These flooding problems were the result of urban development within the City. The City contracted with The Wallace Group for the original study and a major update 8 years late. This Master Drainage Study has been the foundation for implementing drainage improvements within existing developed areas and future requirements as further development occurs. The methodology for this study consisted of:
The resulting proposed drainage improvements were primarily underground storm drainage conduit, curb inlet structures, and drainage outfall structures. Projects were prioritized based on 1) flood damage to private property, 2) flood drainage to public property; 3) vehicular safety during storm events, and 4) potential future flooding and safety concerns. In addition, funding options were reviewed. As a result of this Master Drainage Study, many successful projects have been implemented and completed. |
