Work Order 15813

This design project alleviated flooding and provided a new thoroughfare for growth. This was the third roadway and drainage project completed by The Wallace Group in the Hog Pen Creek basin. This project included Tarver Roadway, a 1,300 linear foot curb and gutter roadway; Hogan Roadway, a 2,150 linear foot rural section roadway; and Hog Pen Creek Drainage Improvements, a 2,900 linear foot channel improvement project.

The design of two major storm water crossings was included on the roadway sections. Several design scenarios were presented in the preliminary design due to topographic challenges. The final design minimized the 100-year floodplain in this rapidly developing area. Spoil material from drainage improvements was utilized in developing buildable tracts. In determining the scope of work for the project, The Wallace Group was instrumental in presenting bid and design alternates to bring the project under budget.

After completion of the $1.7 million project, the City of Temple entered into a contract with The Wallace Group to provide a FIRM (Flood Insurance Rate Map) revision of Hog Pen Creek. This was the second major revision to the Hog Pen Creek FIRM that The Wallace Group has completed. Services provided include route alignment, TxDOT coordination, right-of-way acquisition, civil design of roadway and extensive drainage facilities, surveying, permitting, construction administration, and project representation.
