New Pressure Planes Improve The Duncanville Water System
The City of Duncanville receives treated water from the City of Dallas via three pump stations located in the north, the southeast, and the southwest. These stations pump water into three elevated tanks. Duncanville was experiencing two problems with its water system: (1) low pressure in the north and northwest part of the City and (2) an inability to receive contracted amounts of water from the southwest connection. After gathering detailed information on the pumps, pipes, and surveying each tower, The Wallace Group installed recording gages and performed flow tests to accurately calibrate a computer model. Upon analyzing the system, The Wallace Group recommended dividing the City into two pressure planes or systems, installing a few valves, and adding new water lines. Re-analysis indicates these modest improvements will significantly improve the system performance.
