| Moody ISD Sports Complex - Construction Is Underway 4/16/01 Update Construction is underway for the Moody High School Sports Complex. The new stadium will hold 2,582 fans in the bleachers. The field and track was designed as a horseshoe shaped bowl. The north end is the open end and has been filled about 3 feet above natural ground. The south end of the field was cut down into the ground about 9 feet. Included in the construction is a 2,700 sf Concession/Restroom Facility and four Tennis Courts. In addition to these facilities, design and construction is underway for a 3,500 foot-long road through Moody ISD property connecting the Sports Complex to the far side of the High School.
1/16/01 The Wallace Group has recently completed two 'rush' projects using the design/build process. A recent study by The Construction Institute (Austin) on 351 design/build projects concluded that design/build projects on average cost 6% less, have 12% faster construction time, and have a 33% faster total completion time. Design/build projects require close cooperation during the early stages between the Owner, the Designer, and the Builders. The Wallace Group, the largest local design firm, has teamed with Young Contractors, the largest local heavy construction firm to facilitate timely completion of this project.
The Wallace Group has recently designed the new China Spring ISD sports complex, the Texas State Little League Headquarters, numerous tracks and sports courts for Waco ISD, and Lions Park, the major sports complex in Killeen. Young Contractors recently completed the site work for the new Waco ISD sports complex, and they are nearing completion of construction work on the Little League Headquarters.
