Construction Underway on 12-Mile, 36-Inch Water Transmission Main
The Wallace Group, Inc. is providing survey, design, and construction phase services for the Bell County Water Control and Improvement District No.1 (WCID #1). The Bell County Waterline Replacement Project is a $8.5 M, 12 mile long, 36-Inch DIP Water Transmission Main which will replace a 24-inch water main from Nolanville through Harker Heights and Killeen to Fort Hood. The design features for this project include: a 400 linear foot bore across US Hwy 190, 18 additional bores for a total of 2,000 feet in bore length, 17 creek/channel crossings, and a bore across existing Railroad and right of way in the city of Killeen. There are four separate connections to existing water tanks and pump stations. The new transmission main is part of an overall capacity increase to the system to supply the rapidly growing cities of Nolanville, Harker Heights, Killeen and Copperas Cove. Ultimately this project and future expansions to the system will increase water transmission capacity from 40 MGD to 65 MGD. This project will be constructed in 2005 – 2006.
