    National SkillsUSA Championship Awarded
To James Wick

After winning State Level Architectural Drafting Competitions in March 2003, Wacoan James Wick went on to win the National Level Championship. The 39th annual National Leadership and Skills Conference held by SkillsUSA–VICA on June 26, 2003 in Kansas City, showcases career and technical education students.

More than 4,000 outstanding career and technical education students – all state contest winners – competed hands-on in 75 different trade, technical, and leadership fields. James Wick competed against the clock and other contestants, proving his expertise in Architectural Drafting. “It’s a great honor to be nationally recognized as a highly skilled CADD draftsman,” says James Wick with The Wallace Group, Inc. “I’ve enjoyed fully utilizing the skills I learned at TSTC on The Wallace Group’s Architectural Projects.”

SkillsUSA–VICA is a national organization serving over 264,000 high school and college students and professional members in training programs in technical, skilled, and service occupations, including health occupations. SkillsUSA–VICA has the active support of more than 1,000 corporations, trade associations, business and labor unions at the national level. Thousands more work with SkillsUSA at state and local association levels.

After graduating from TSTC in April 2002 with an Associates Degree in Architectural and Civil Drafting, James Wick joined the Architectural Division of The Wallace Group, Inc. He has provided technical support to recent local projects including the WISD gymnasiums, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and First United Methodist Church.
